ROCK RADIO came together in early 2011 shortly after Ray, Mike & Jim departed an oldies project in a quest to showcase a different brand of Classic Rock, Pop & Dance music to Northeast Ohio area venues and beyond. It wasn't long before Tom, Jeff and Chuck were added as the rhythm section to complete the band as a quintet with Jim still making guest appearances.
The goal of this project is simple, yet complex. We strive to entertain audiences with songs that were not only FM radio favorites (with a few rarities as well) from the 60's, 70's and 80's, but narrowing those choices to songs that feature dynamic vocal harmonies, sing-a-long choruses and dance floor appeal. (Or, at least some combination of those three magic ingredients).
Each of our performances are structured to be unique so that no two shows are exactly alike--something that is easily accomplished as our master song list grows and grows.
We'll perform back to back Tom Petty songs (for example) in one set while busting out the groove with KC & The Sunshine Band a few minutes later. And then its off to the land of British Invasion classics from The Rolling Stones or The Who before an abrupt change of the dial into the New Wave/Rock era of artists like The Cars and Robert Palmer.
And.....when was the last time you actually slow danced with someone? Shake off those junior high nerves because at least one time during each of our sets, you'll get that opportunity! We don't forget about the ballads. All of this, plus..... along the way, you might even learn a thing or two about these artists and songs we cover as we delve into brief trivia and fun facts.
Whether its a four-hour late night bar gig or a two-hour outdoor summer festival performance, ROCK RADIO delivers the sonic goods with top tier musicians, professional sound, and concert style lighting.
We welcome you to grab a mini-tambourine or other percussive instruments that we've provided next to the stage and join the fun - as our quest to become rock music's greatest radio station on stage continues...... Turn On, Tune In, Rock Out !
